On the slopes of Medvednica, on an area of 15 000 m2, around the school building there are numerous fun, educational and practical stimuli, which enable the multidimensional development of children. Spending time in these surroundings has a positive effect on health, socio-emotional and psychomotor development. Apart from the rich nature that surrounds us, various people-friendly animals live in the area and visit us: roe deer, pheasants, rabbits and hedgehogs.
During the whole school year we carry out a joint project of children and their preschool teachers ‘From farm to table’, through which we learn about the growth and development of plants, working the land and caring about different vegetables: zucchini, beans, several types of lettuce, parsley, carrot, Swiss chard, tomato and pepper. All our activities are carefully recorded in pictures and the growth of seedlings is carefully monitored, as well as the influence the weather has on them. Our greatest joy is vegetables that our cook prepares for us with love.
Apricots, nectarines, cherries, sour cherries, pears, apples, plums, walnuts, hazelnut and figs are only some of 160 trees, whose fruit we enjoy throughout the school year.
